Since Chadia left Lebanon to attend the Francophone Film Festival in Paris, where her documentary film Lebanon Despite Everything (105 min) was screening, she realised that her departure from Beirut would be long-term and lead to many changes in new countries. From Paris, she took the road to Casablanca, Algeria, Melbourne, Adelaide and finally Sydney, where she has been living for the past 22 years.
Work experience:
- Foreign correspondent to satellite Arabic Television in Dubai
- Journalist / reporter for local Arabic newspapers
- Language teacher
- Bilingual university examiner & marker
- Digital media teacher.
She received several awards for her work in the film industry and visual arts.
Film and television achievement:
- In 2023, published her first short stories collection More Precious Than Birds, written originally in the Arabic language.
- Won Best Ethnic TV program for her short film Accounting And Sewing Don’t Match.
- Short film Allamouni (They Taught Me) (14 min), screened at the Australian Arab Film Festival
- Short Documentary: With Every Drop (5 min) for SBSTV, part of Change the World in 5 Minutes web series.
She is currently developing scripts profiling the lives of eight extraordinary women in search of their new identities in Australia.
