Anita Barar's creative practice area is film, theatre, and fiction writing.
Film Achievement:
- Her International Award-winning feature documentary film “Crossing the Line” documents the cultural memories of India’s partition in 1947 by the seniors of the Sub-continent living in Australia;
- Awarded short film ‘A New Dawn’ is a community resource film that focuses on the issue of Domestic Violence in the Indian subcontinent community of Australia.
- Other short films have also been recognised at other festivals.
- Her award-winning fiction and theatre writings in various international festivals have reflected on human relationships.
Anita is Producer at SBS Hindi. In addition to being a final round panel judge for the ATOM Awards in Victoria, Anita has presented papers at global conferences on Indian Cinema and Borders & Boundaries and has facilitated and mentored Creative Writing and Theatre workshops.
She has collected various awards and recognitions in Australia, as well as internationally for her creative and community work.
Other than an MA in Linguistics and a Science graduate degree, she holds degrees/diplomas in film studies.
